Setfree Nherera Mafukidze

Setfree Nherera Mafukidze is the Founding Chief Secretary for Health, Maternal & Childcare within Si-G – The Patriots’ Movement for Empowerment.

He is a passionate Senior Fellow of the International Diabetes Federation, Healthcare leader, and advocate for social justice, Setfree embodies Si-G’s core values of people-first governance, equity, and inclusive empowerment.

With a professional background rooted in nursing and community health, Setfree brings a wealth of experience in maternal and child care, non communicable disease management and grassroots health education. His approach to health advocacy is firmly anchored in the belief that true freedom and national empowerment cannot exist without access to quality healthcare for all.

Setfree has advanced his competencies through global and national platforms, including the International Diabetes Federation (IDF), Cambridge Diabetes Education Program (CDEP), and leadership training through the NHS Edward Jenner Program and Diabetes UK as well as the University of Derby where he is currently studying. He has also led a digital diabetes awareness campaign that reaches communities across Zimbabwe and the diaspora.

At Si-G, Setfree leads the development of rights-based health strategies, champions maternal and child health as a national priority, and mobilizes citizens to take action against corruption, poor service delivery, and health inequality. His leadership is instrumental in building a health system that aligns with the Zimbabwean Constitution and upholds the dignity and rights of every citizen.
